Diocesan Youth Ministry Award Nominations

The Diocese of Sioux is seeking nominations for the 2007 Diocesan Youth Ministry Award.

The purpose of this award is to affirm, recognize, and support Youth Ministry efforts in the Diocese of Sioux City.  The award will be presented to one adult and one youth who have made outstanding efforts in service to youth in our parishes. If you would like to nominate a youth and/or adult from your parish for the award, please complete a nomination form.  The completed nomination form must be received by September 30, 2007.   We ask that you keep your nominations confidential.

The awards will be presented during the Catholic High School Youth Rally.  Additional information is below.

  1. The youth recipient must be high school age through twenty-two (22) years old and single.
  2. The adult recipient should be active in comprehensive middle or high school youth ministry, not just a particular component (e.g., religious education, service or music ministry).
  3. In addition to the nomination form, a letter of recommendation from another person must be sent to the diocesan director of youth ministry.
  4. To keep the focus of the award on the recipient (and not the other nominees), it is very important the nominee not be notified of their notification.
  5. The nomination form and recommendation letter must reach the diocesan Director of Youth Ministry by September 30, 2007.

Questions regarding the Youth Ministry Award can be addressed to Jessica La Fleur at jessical@scdiocese.org or 712-233-7561.

Christian Leadership Institute
Christian Leadership Institute is a weeklong camp at which high school teens have an opportunity to not only use, but also develop their leadership skills.  It is a training event designed to teach young people the skills necessary for effective leadership for a parish or school youth ministry setting. CLI offers an opportunity for leadership development through an intense period of learning and community living. The program is an in-depth experience of skills development in the areas of organization, communication, and motivation, as well as personal growth, which enables each young person to discover his or her own leadership style. The CLI process includes prayer and worship, recreation and social time.
