Father John E. Keehner of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio is the bishop-elect for the Diocese of Sioux City. The bishop-elect is currently pastor of four parishes in Ashtabula County, Ohio.
The Holy Father announced the appointment Feb. 12, 2025.
The bishop-elect’s ordination Mass will be celebrated May 1 at 2 p.m. at the Sioux City Cathedral of the Epiphany. Attendance is via invitation-only.
The April 30 vespers and May 1 ordination will be livestreamed on the Diocese of Sioux City YouTube channel. The ordination will also appear on KTIV Channel 4 based out of Sioux City and at KTIV.com.
For his episcopal motto, he selected the words of his patron saint, St. John the Baptist: He must increase; I must decrease.
